About Jake Monroe

Jake Monroe is a singer and multi-instrumentalist from Cashmere, Washington. Having cut his teeth in the bluegrass world touring the Northwest in bluegrass bands, and teaching at award-winning music camps, Jake has immersed himself in roots music through oral tradition and community.

Jake began playing the mandolin at eight years old, following in the footsteps of a family of bluegrass musicians. Jake has also learned the guitar and banjo along the way, adding to a balanced and full understanding of roots music composition.

During the day, Jake spends his time as an architectural designer, contributing to the physical development of our communities. He approaches design through the lens of a musician and songwriter, with a sensitive connection to context, empathy towards the audience, and an eye/ear for "good"; music and design go hand in hand. In his solo performances, Jake explores a wide range of songwriting in roots and traditional American band traditions, with universal tones about the struggles of life and storytelling only found in this kind of music. There is a little bit of something for everybody in these songs, and that is precisely what Jake wants to share.
